Downland Rangers on Outdoor First Aid

For those active in rural areas, less than one hour from definitive medical care, who want to learn basic first aid skills helpful in an outdoor emergency. We provide this course for a wide range of organisations from conservation groups to DofE Award providers and canoe clubs.

On-site Training

We can organise courses at your location. This enables us to provide training tailored to your organisation at dates and times that suit you. Alternatively, if you do not have a venue available, we can use one of our network of established venues throughout much of the UK. We offer significant discounts to organisations which group book. For a quote contact our training team to discuss how we can help.

Course outline

No previous training is necessary. You will learn both how to recognise and treat a variety of illness and injuries. You will practise skills such as assessing a casualty, bandaging wounds, basic life support and splinting fractures. The course is a mix of practical sessions both indoors and outdoors. The course fulfills the first aid training obligations of a number of National Governing Board Awards such as the DofE Basic Expedition Leader. We also run two-day Wilderness First Aid courses for those undertaking higher level awards such as Mountain Leader.

Our instructors are qualified as professional trainers and deliver courses with a practical perspective gained from their backgrounds in emergency care and the outdoors- from here in the UK to Aid Work overseas.
